Have you ever finished a book and just sat there — stunned — because of the depths it went?
Maybe it gave voice to emotions you’ve carried quietly for years. Maybe it didn’t shy away from the hard stuff — grief, guilt, shame, or even deep questions about God — but still left you with a sense of hope. A story that didn’t just entertain you but actually ministered to your heart.
That’s the power of a truly redemptive novel.
Welcome to McKenna Kyllo’s Blog, a Christian fiction book blog created for women who crave stories that go deeper than surface-level faith. If you long for fiction that is both raw and redemptive — stories that reflect real struggles and showcase the fierce love of God — you’re in the right place.
Why I Started This Christian Fiction Book Blog
Let’s be honest: not all Christian fiction feels… real.
I started this blog because I couldn’t find many books that matched what I was craving spiritually and emotionally. So often, Christian romance is unfortunately quite shallow. Pain gets glossed over. Healing is too tidy. Faith is inserted like a side dish instead of being baked into the story’s DNA.
And yet, I knew stories could be more. I’d read a few that lingered in my heart — the ones that let the mess be messy, that didn’t offer easy answers but still pointed to God’s goodness. Stories that helped me process things I hadn’t even realized I was carrying and challenged my faith in deep ways.
I wanted more of those. And I knew other women did too.
So I created this space — a place to explore fiction that’s rich, raw, and rooted in grace. This isn’t just a review site. It’s a community for women who believe in the power of storytelling to bring healing, clarity, and deeper faith.

What You’ll Find on Fiction That Goes There
Here on the blog (and over on the YouTube channel and Podcast that goes with it), you’ll find content that dives into the deep themes layered with many of my favorite romance novels- both old and new.
Book Reviews with Depth & Spice Ratings
Every book I review gets two custom ratings:
- Depth – How emotionally or spiritually intense is the story?
- Spice – How romantic is it, and is it still clean and honoring?
This helps you know exactly what kind of story you’re stepping into, especially if you’ve got preferences or sensitivities around emotional content or romantic tone.
Honest Reflections
I’ll share reflections on the deeper themes within stories — how characters process grief, experience redemption, or wrestle with grace. There will be many conversations about how fiction helps us understand the gospel more fully.
Behind-the-Scenes + Author Interviews
We’ll talk with authors whose work goes there — into the grief, into the guilt, into the grace. You’ll hear what inspired them, how they wrestled with faith while writing, and what they hope readers take away.
Faith + Fiction Conversations
Some posts will explore how fiction shapes our spiritual lives. Because the truth is — stories teach. They plant truth in our hearts that leave lasting impacts. There are so many stories I have read and reread (or even written) that will carry with me for the rest of my life. Here, we’ll explore how fiction can open us to healing, deepen our faith, and give us stronger footing to stand on.
Why Christian Fiction Still Matters
You might be asking — why focus so much on fiction? Why not just stick to nonfiction or Bible study?
Because stories reach the soul in a different way.
Jesus knew that. That’s why He told parables. Not because people needed better entertainment — but because stories cut through defenses. They linger. They are remembered. They provoke reflection long after the final page.
In an age of constant noise and quick answers, fiction invites us to slow down and reflect. And for Christian women navigating pain, trauma, doubt, or just the everyday ache of life — stories that mirror God’s grace are more than comforting. They’re transformative.
This Christian fiction book blog exists because I believe fiction is one of the most powerful ways to engage the gospel. And I want to share the best of what’s out there with you.
